The inaugural GSSA Hearts & Horsepower at the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park at The Bend spectacularly roared to life, delivering a day of speed, joy, and unforgettable memories – Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Brian “BJ” James of Murray Bridge left his wheelchair in the park for an exciting three-lap spin around Tailem Bend’s world-class GT Circuit.
This incredible event simply would not have been possible without the kind hearts of the Tailem Bend Auto Club and the support of the world-class teams at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park and Rydges Pit Lane Hotel. Together, they turned an idea into an experience that left a lasting mark on everyone who was part of it.
Over 35 proud auto club members rolled up with their pride and joys, ready to share their passion for motoring. With more than 50 thrilled passengers buckled in, the GT Circuit came alive as the cars set off for three exhilarating laps.
Hayley Smith of Murray Bridge had a dream come true: three laps of The Bend’s GT Circuit in a 5-litre naturally aspirated V10 Lamborghini Gallardo.
Engines roared, tyres gripped, and hearts raced – not just from the speed, but from the sheer excitement of being part of something so special.
Passengers stepped out of cars with wide smiles, many saying the experience had “made their day” or even that they “felt like a VIP.” For some, it was the first time they had ever been in a performance car on a world-class racing circuit, and the joy was written on their faces.

Drivers, too, were buzzing, calling it a wonderful opportunity to share their passion with people who truly appreciated every moment.
The sense of camaraderie between the club members, the guests, and The Bend’s staff made the day even more extraordinary.
The verdict was an outstanding success for the first GSSA Hearts & Horsepower community event, and it has sparked huge excitement for the future. GSSA and the Tailem Bend Auto Club are already gearing up for next year, eager to make it even bigger and better.
